Tipperary Excel is a cultural resource for Tipperary, providing the people of the region with access to a multi-disciplinary programme of events and activities in the performing and visual arts, at the highest possible standard of excellence. The Excel houses a theatre, cinemas, tourist information point, gift shop, café and interpretative facilities. It is also home to the Family History Research department - the only organisation to offer a research service based on access to the Baptismal and Marriage records of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Cashel & Emly.

The town is an ideal base for walking in the Galtees, Glen of Aherlow. Tipperary also has a full range of sporting facilities catering for all tastes.
